An abridged update from the Association of Baptist Churches in Israel (ABC) and Baptist Twinning in Israel (BTI)
Two years ago, WRBC Hitchin began a twinning partnership with Tura'an Baptist Church. Recently our minister Andrew, Helen (our youth worker) and Harold (a deacon) spent a wonderful few days with Pastor Ziad and the church in Israel. Relationships were strengthened and the Hitchin crew came back with a fuller understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing the Tura'an church in this Muslim majority town of 15,000 - situated about five miles north of Nazareth.
A highlight of the visit was shared in the baptism of Ziad's niece, Malik, at Yardenit, the River Jordan baptismal site where all the ABC churches hold their baptisms. Andrew also had the privilege of praying for her afterwards!
So, what are the next steps to develop this twinning? Andrew hopes to visit Tura'an next April with three more church members one evening during the BTI Introductory Tour of the Holy Land. Plans are also afoot to bring Ziad and his family to the UK next summer to meet WRBC Hitchin in person!
